From 29th April to 06th May 2025, the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) interregional training on World Heritage and Climate Action was organized by the Malagasy National Commission for UNESCO, the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, and Better World.
JADD Madagascar was honored to be among 36 WHV coordinators from 21 countries who participated in this intensive, week-long programme. The training addressed the pressing challenges posed by climate change to World Heritage sites and explored strategic action plans in key areas such as climate action, sustainable tourism, intangible cultural heritage, community and indigenous engagement, and the conservation of historic cities and urban landscapes.
This enriching experience not only deepened our understanding of climate-related issues within the World Heritage context, but also provided a valuable opportunity to build partnerships, strengthen international networks, and promote Malagasy culture on the global stage.
